Welcome to the HerKentucky.com Online Book Club!
We first floated this idea on our social media channels last week, and were overwhelmed by the response! Our readers LOVED the idea of an online read-along of books by and about Kentucky women. So, here we are!
This month's selection is The Undertaker's Daughter by Kate Mayfield. It's a little odd that I first heard of a book about Southern Kentucky written by a Kentucky native via a book review in a British publication, but this is an odd little book, and Ms. Mayfield has lived in England for several years. Her novel is a memoir of growing up as, you guessed it, the daughter of the town undertaker. It's a funny, tragic, poignant, and all-too-real story of Southern life.
We'll have discussion posts on Thursday, January 14, and Thursday, January 28. In the meantime, feel free to email me at firstname.lastname@example.org with any questions, ideas, or suggestions. We'll add the list for upcoming months' books soon!
