How You Can Help Muhlenberg County Fire Victims

Tragedy struck my home county in the early hours of Thursday morning, when an accidental house fire killed nine members of a young family, 8 of them children.  The two survivors, father Chad Watson and 11-year-old Kylie Watson, are in critical but stable condition at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville and are expected to make full recoveries.  The Watsons, like so many other local families, found their riches not in money but in love, faith, and community.  They made their church home at Calvary Baptist Church in Central City, Kentucky, where a candlelight vigil was held on Friday night.  

The Watsons did not have life or homeowners insurance, but some generous donors have stepped up to help the family.  Country music group The Band Perry will pay for all funeral expenses; Jagoe Homes of Owensboro has volunteered to build a new home for Chad and Kylie Watson.  The family has a long road ahead of them, though, and I like to think of Kentucky as one big rural community that cares for its own.  Here's how you can help:
