Autumn is my favorite time of year to stock up on L.L. Bean! I can't get enough of their  Bean Boots . They have such classic styling, quality construction, and a fun, preppy style. They're seriously items that never go out of style, and that I find myself reaching for over and over. And, now through Monday, Bean Boots are 20% off with code AUTUMN.

I love my Bean Boots because they're so durable and waterproof. I use them for everyday errands like walking the dogs or walking through our often-leaky basement as well as to stay warm and dry in wet weather and blend in with the fall foliage.

The slip-on mocs are even good for summertime errands like yard work, and since they're made of rubber, they clean up so easily!

A word about sizing: these boots are meant to be worn with serious socks, so size down significantly! Half sizes are advised to order one and a half down!  I wear an 8.5 in most shoes; I own a 7 in both of these pairs!

L.L. Bean Warranty Changes

The End of the Preppy World as we Know It?

LL Bean Warranty Changes

It's no secret that I love L.L. Bean. In fact, if y'all have followed along with this blog over the years, you've probably heard me sing the praises of L.L. Bean's famous Boat & Tote Bags and Bean Boots. I also really love their pajamas and house shoes. And their sweaters last forever... Well, you get the idea.

When your BFF is super-glam and your style is more low-key, this is how presents are mailed....

When your BFF is super-glam and your style is more low-key, this is how presents are mailed....

L.L. Bean products do seem to last forever. In fact, the company's eponymous founder is known for saying in the first L.L. Bean circular that "No sale is really complete until the product is worn out, and the customer is satisfied. We will thank anyone to return goods that are not perfectly satisfactory...Above all things we wish to avoid having a dissatisfied customer." That was in 1912. Those of us who love L.L. Bean have, over the past 106 years, grown accustomed to the company's lifetime replacement policy. Then, Friday morning, this email arrived.

LL Bean Warranty Email

There's always one or two jerks who have to ruin everything, right? I mean, WHO ARE THESE PEOPLE BUYING STUFF AT YARD SALES AND CLAIMING A WARRANTY RETURN? I've bought some vintage Bean sweaters on eBay, but I buy them to wear. Because, again, Bean sweaters last forever. And, because their quality doesn't end because the original owners were tired of them. And, because the original marketing statement made by Mr. Bean was built on the idea that customers were honest and not jerks.

For me, the rule of returns is "does the reason for the return constitute my misuse/overuse or a manufacturer flaw?" I've worn my sweater fleece pullover at least twice a week for two years, so it's no wonder that the hem of the cuff is starting to fray. That needs a few stitches, not a replacement. And I live in my slippers -- of course they're looking a little rough on their third winter. Those are on me, not the company. On the other hand, when I didn't care for the way a monogram showed up on a pair of pajamas, I did return them for a monogram in a different thread. I actually felt guilty doing this, as it was custom monogrammed, but it was a pair of new and unworn pajamas. I guess I'm the opposite of this guy.

I love this sweater fleece. After 2 years, the hem is a little frayed; I plan to mend it!

How about y'all? What do you think is an "appropriate reason" to return a product?

Shop my L.L. Bean favorites below. I promise you probably won't have to send them back, anyway!

Bean's slippers are the absolute best. I got Bob a pair of the flannel-lined leather slippers for Christmas; they've been the perfect thing for this cold weather snap! I've had my Wicked Good Camp Moccasins for a couple of winters now -- it might be time to stock up on a new pair!

Easy Summer Outfits!

Dress up your summer wardrobe!

The past few days have brought warm temperatures and the end of school. And, I don't know about y'all, but I just don't feel like getting dressed up at all. Even when I need to. Here are some cute ways to pull yourself together without trying too hard.

Fun dresses

Lightweight dresses are always a great option. These Lilly Pulitzer dresses are a perfect match for dinner, drinks, or anything else that pops up.

And there's nothing more comfortable than a well-made t-shirt dress with fun tennis shoes for a day of running errands or hanging out with friends.

Sweatshirts and Shorts

There really is a way to wear a structured long-sleeved top with shorts without looking like you're headed to a sorority rush workshop. Opt for fun prints and quality fabrics to pull the look together

The LL Bean French Sailor's Shirt is my FAVORITE. I have this in cream and navy, and cream and rose, and it is just the perfect thing for most any season! I just got this Lilly Pulitzer

Dress up your sneakers and flip-flops!

You really don't want to wear old sneakers or rubber flip-flops, do you? I love a pretty pair of Keds with skirts, and Jack Rogers sandals with just about anything!

What's on your summer wardrobe wishlist?

5 Christmas Sweaters That Aren't Ugly

Ditch that Ugly Christmas Sweater for an elegant holiday knit!

'Tis the Season for Ugly Christmas Sweater Parties. I'm sure that most of y'all have been invited to a party or two where the dress code called for hideous holiday knits. Here in Louisville, there are so many ways to show the world that you have terrible taste in Christmas attire. Garage Bar is hosting an Ugly Sweater Brunch this Sunday, Hilltop Tavern and Maker's Mark are throwing an Ugly Sweater Party (with prizes!) next Wednesday, and there's even an Ugly Sweater Run tonight, if that's your jam.

As for me, I like my holiday knitwear to run a little more toward pretty and non-ironic. I like to stick with vintage L.L. Bean Sweaters or pretty knits paired with neutrals. Here a few great Christmas sweaters that will take you through the next week of holiday parties in style.

These Ralph Lauren corduroy leggings are seriously THE BEST for pairing with boots and oversized sweaters. They're so comfy and yet give you such a polished look. I LOVE mine!

This Lands' End Supima cotton cardigan adds holiday flair in an understated way. It would be just perfect paired with a pretty skirt and tights.

This Vineyard Vines Snowflake Fair Isle Turtleneck combines the season's snowflakes with some lovely neutrals.

This would be great with winter white leggings and neutral boots for a comfy yet sophisticated holiday look.

Talbots seriously knocked it out of the park with their holiday line this year. How cute is this sequin fawn tee?

Pair with black jeans and booties for a casual, festive look.

I've already told y'allhow much I love Fair Isle sweaters. This Brooks Brothers Red Fleece sweater is perfect for casual get-togethers with distressed jeans and duck boots.

Happy Holiday Styling, y'all, and just say no to the ugly sweater!
