Summer Cookout Attire
What to wear? That is always the question when faced with a summer BBQ or cookout with friends in the bluegrass state. There are ways to still look cute even when it's hot and humid!
The Fancy Cookout- Dress: French Connection, Shoes: Miu Miu
The best advice is to dress comfortably! We all know there's nothing worse than being hot and sweaty in an outfit that is uncomfortable and binding.
My last piece of advice- don't show up empty handed. Always take a side dish or a bottle of wine to a cookout that you are invited to attend.
Kentucky Places: Zappos Fulfillment Center
I bet most of you all didn't know that Shephardsville, Ky (about 10 minutes outside of Louisville) is the home to several fulfillment centers- Zappos, Rue La La, and Gilt Groupe.
Back in 2003, one of my High School friends told me about a little known secret- the Zappos Outlet. Zappos is an online retailer of everything from high end shoes to clothes, accessories, and just about anything in between!
I always try to pop in to see if the Zappos Outlet has any good deals, and most of the time they definitely do! Basically anything that is on the Zappos website is fair game for the outlet. I have seen very expensive high-end shoes there for nearly 75% off of retail.
If you're ever driving up I-65 towards Louisville, you may want to stop and check it out. I promise you won't be disappointed.
Louisville HotSpot:Heine Brothers Coffee
I had the pleasure of being back in the Bluegrass state a couple of weekends ago. I was scouring for the local Starbucks when I drove past Heine Brothers Coffee. Normally, I would just keep driving, but their drive-thru sign caught my eye (let's face it, I'm lazy). I wheeled in the drive-thru to order my regular vanilla latte and was pleasantly surprised at how good it tasted! I then learned that Heine Brothers used all organic and sustainable products in their drinks and recycles everything!
How awesome does that Cleo sound?
I am sad that I live hundreds of miles away from a Heine Brothers Coffee House, but I will definitely visit again any time that I am in Louisville.

Three years ago my husband and I tied the knot on Derby Day!
Being from Kentucky, I wanted to incorporate something to tie in the Bluegrass state.
I decided to go with "Lucky In Love" favor bags filled with chocolate horseshoes.

Lexington Pizza: Puccini's & Mad Mushroom
Two of my favorite pizza places in Lexington are Puccini's and Mad Mushroom.
Puccini's Smiling Teeth is located in Chevy Chase and has AMAZING pasta in addition to their pizzas. I have been there many a time and scarfed down their house salad with a pizza or pasta. The thing I love most about Puccini's is the casual atmosphere. You could see friends from college or families dining with their kids.
Mad Mushroom, not to be confused with Mellow Mushroom is one of those late-night treats that you can't imagine unless you experience it first-hand. Cheese sticks. Dipped. in. ranch.
You can't tell me that you went to UK and never had the cheese sticks late at night.
